On Wednesday, October 23 & Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 6:30-8p.m., I gave back-to-back presentations on my book, LOU AND JONBENÉT, A Legendary Lawman's Quest to Solve the Murder of a Child Beauty Queen, published by Wild Blue Press. My two presentations, were part of a continuing event, titled, Cold Cases & Cocktails, Lou and JonBenét, hosted by the Highland Ranch Community Association, at the Southridge Rec Center, 4808 McArthur Road, Highlands Ranch, CO.
The event was originally scheduled for one night, October 24th; however, all 225 tickets, selling for $30 each, were sold out within weeks. A second night was added, for October 23rd, and it too sold out! At the beginning of my presentation I asked the audience for a show of hands for how many people thought a Ramsey Family member was responsible for the murder of JonBenét? About 60% of the attendees raised their hands. At the end of my presentation; which showed many of Lou Smit's investigative slides, published in my true crime book, LOU AND JONBENET, I asked for a second show-of-hands for how many people still thought a Ramsey Family member was responsible for the murder of JonBenét - only a half-dozen people raised their hands. My presentation focuses on the facts of the case; including duct tape, stun gun, Paracord 55, and unidentified male DNA left on the victim's body and clothing.
I will be giving a similar LOU AND JONBENET presentation on Monday November 18, 2024, from 7-8:30 p.m., for the Highlands Ranch Historical Society (HRHS), 4800 McArthur Ranch Rd., Highlands Ranch, CO. This event is free for HRHS members, and is open to the public (donations of $5 each are encouraged to cover expenses).
Many people who have read my book, LOU AND JONBENÉT, or attended any of my previous presentations, are surprised to learn that since Lou Smit's passing in 2010, the Smit Family Team has used DNA to eliminate more than a dozen persons of interest named in Lou's original investigative notes. I, along with the Smit Family Team, believe that using the advancements that have been made with genetic DNA technology, in the past 28 years since the murder, there has never been a better time to solve the brutal murder of JonBenét Ramsey than there is today.
