Larry Sells is Special Crimes Prosecutor for murder trials in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has been interviewed on Investigation Discovery, America’s Most Wanted, and Oxygen: Snapped. He has prosecuted more than 70 murderers and still cannot understand how a person can deliberately take the life of another.
Margie Porter’s mother was “working through” an abusive marriage when she died in 2002. She starved to death. Of course, there was no justice. Margie agreed to work on this book because the barbarity of the crime enraged her, and she adores people who fight for hopeless causes.

I enjoyed your book, “Race To Justice”, but cannot believe the son of satan is getting on in 2023! Can’t he now be charged federally with conspiracy, since he discussed his plans with several men and tried to recruit them? Or with mail/ insurance fraud or something to keep in in prison for life? I mean you got that 21 yo girl 110 years just for being an accessory! Or has IN law changed so much in 25 years? TY!

Julie,
I am glad you enjoyed “Race to Justice.” I wish Albrecht could have received a sentence which would keep him in prison for the rest of his life, but under then existing Indiana law, he was only required to serve half the 60 year sentence he received minus 4 more years for a taxpayer funded college education. What a slap in the face to all people impacted by Albrecht’s horrific acts.
The same judge who sentenced him actually was the judge who sentenced Sarah Pender, whom I called a “female Charles Manson” because of her ability to manipulate people to commit crimes, including murder. As an accessory to her cohort Richard Hull, she bought the shotgun used to kill their two roommates, encouraged him to kill them, then helped him dispose of the bodies in a dumpster. She went to work later and, according to a co-worker, was the happiest she had ever seen her. After going to prison, she seduced a prison guard to help her escape. It might interest you to know, that years after she was sentenced, then returned to prison following the escape, I learned of information that I thought should have resulted in her getting a new trial. Although I believed she was guilty, and still do, I still thought she should be entitled to a new trial. The Indiana Court of Appeals felt differently.
You might like to read “Beast of New Castle,” another book written by Margie Porter and me. It is about a psychopathic killer I helped put on death row twice.

Take care and keep reading.

Who told you that you could use my name in your book?don’t you think you should have ask first? Charlie Alcorn
Larry Sells says
Mr. Acorn,
Did not mean to offend you by using your name in the book. It was part of the public record and, therefore, available to all. One of the men who was unjustly accused used your name, but law enforcement cleared you.
