I have always loved to research a topic if it genuinely interests me. I become obsessed and will stay up for days if zeroed in on a great lead. That subject becomes the focus of my life, sometimes for years. I need professional help, no doubt.
I am not sure exactly when the idea cemented for my latest book, OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF SERIAL KILLERS, but it began to take shape while I was listening to news of an apprehended serial killer. I remember thinking, “Why did he do it?” How does someone become so twisted, so vile that the taking of multiple human lives, most often the lives of total strangers, gives him or her pleasure? I was still pondering this a few days later when I sat down and wrote this killer and asked “Why?”. Within a month, I was writing serial killers left and right, plus researching their interrogation interviews, court hearings, media sources, and parole hearing gleaming unedited testimony that addressed that same question, “Why?” Four years later, I had my 4th book: OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF SERIAL KILLERS.
I owe a lot to an English teacher I had in high school. Unfortunately, I never told him how much he influenced me. He complimented me on a short piece I did for the school magazine, he said I had talent. College and life took over, but I did not forget his kind words. He gave me the confidence and, equally important, the desire to eventually write.
I began by penning articles on antiques and collectibles for national magazines and actually sold them. That inspired me to write my first book, that virgin forage into book publishing. I have had the good fortune to work with two top shelf publishing companies in the past and I sincerely thank WildBlue Press for the opportunity to work with them on this future project.
I am the mother of two amazing sons and have a wonderful partner. While I am sure they think my obsession with the dark side is strange, they are all too kind to actually tell me so. They have always been supportive and I could not have a better cheering gallery. I am a native of Virginia and hold a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. I currently live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and live with my partner, dog, 3 cats, and a bird.

Hello Mary,
I just listened to the podcast “True Murder” and this is where I found out about your book.-Out of the mouths of serial killers.
I have a question. You said that if serial killers were to be let out of jail they would kill again. What about the ones that have found religion? Do you think they would kill again?
I look forward your thoughts.
Hope this finds you well.
All the best
