I am an accomplished leader and speaker who is incredibly passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Currently, I am employed as a senior leader with the McKesson Corporation, a Fortune 6 company. I am also a highly recognized and decorated former United States Army Infantry Officer with an impeccable record of leadership in the most demanding of environments.
I served our great country in the United States Army as an Infantry Officer, finishing my military career as a Captain. I served two deployments to Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Platoon Leader and a Company Commander. During my military career, I was rated number 1 of 14 platoon leaders, number 1 of 34 lieutenants in the battalion as an executive officer, and number 1 of 31 company commanders in his brigade. I was also selected for company command as a 1st Lieutenant and spent 19 months in command of 158 Soldiers without having attended the Captains Career Course. I was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for combat actions in Baghdad on September 12, 2004 and the Bronze Star for Service during my second deployment.
I received my Bachelor of Arts from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Here, I also excelled on the football field and was an All-Conference selection at defensive back and was also selected as team captain, which began my love for leadership – cultivating the very skills that would one day translate to the battlefield.
I am proudly married to my beautiful wife, Anne. I have been blessed with three sons, Cole, Will, and Jack, as well as my precious daughter, Claire. I have established my own non-profit, Legion 8, designed to honor the lives of the eight men lost under my command. I often speak to different veteran’s groups and other organizations sharing my story of adversity and leadership and the power of never letting circumstances dictate what they are capable of in life. I pride myself in being fearlessly transparent and honest about my personal journey, something I believe has captured the hearts of people from all walks of life. I am fully dedicated to allowing my story to be used for good, carrying a message of hope and rising beyond life’s greatest challenges.
