This all started, literally, in 1897. Yes, I’m only sixty-two, but my great-grandfather was the local sheriff back then, and he investigated a macabre murder that became the subject of my first book titled To Hell I Must Go (Outskirts Press, 2015)
It’s been three years since I published Killing Women with WildBlue Press. What a ride. Not only has my book become the backdrop for two True Crime Network documentaries, I Survived a Serial Killer and Making a Serial Killer, but the book received a great deal of attention in the mid-Michigan area where serial killer Don Miller committed his unspeakable crimes in the late ‘70s. Oddly enough, because of the way the criminal justice system is set up here in the Great Lakes State, Miller was allowed to receive a parole hearing every year. I’d like to think that Killing Women played at least a small role in changing that law. Miller has only one more parole hearing scheduled in 2027. Sadly, beyond that, he’ll be released in 2031 a free man.
I’m also pleased to say that Killing Women received two consecutive Deadie Awards after being voted a favorite true crime book at a local bookstore in Lansing, Michigan.
Writing and researching has become my passion. I’m loving every minute of it, and I’m already working on my fifth book so stay tuned. You won’t want to miss it. You can follow me on Facebook at Rod Sadler, Author, on my website at www.rodsadler.com, or on Twitter at @RMSauthor.
