I want to share some updates about my work. For those who may be unfamiliar, I am a true crime writer and investigator, and my recent focus has been on the murder case involving NC killer cop Lamont Claxton Underwood.
My books, FIRST DEGREE RAGE and RAGING ON have received some media attention. Recently, I had the opportunity to be part of an upcoming episode of the popular TV series, "Storm of Suspicion" on The Weather Channel. This series, which started in 2018, features crime stories that are solved through forensics involving weather conditions that reveal vital evidence in solving murder crimes. As a true crime writer and investigator, I was interviewed for several hours by Jupiter Entertainment in a controlled studio environment, during which I discussed the investigation at length and also briefly shared about my books.
I was also interviewed for a documentary series on the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme by Raw TV, an award-winning television and film production company based in London. The four-part premium documentary series is being produced for Sky Documentaries and Discovery+, and as you may know, the assassination of Palme remains unsolved to this day, making it a topic of continued international interest. I spent two days and one night being interviewed on camera by the Raw TV crew in North Carolina, where I took them to the scene where Viktor Gunnarsson, a suspect in the case, was murdered. Raw TV specializes in high-end documentaries for broadcasters and streamers such as the BBC, Netflix, Amazon, and CNN, as well as feature-length films for theatrical release.
Prior to WildBlue Press publishing my two books about the case, I was featured as the lead investigator of this murder case on three different TV series:
- Most recently was the TV show “Dead of Winter” which airs on Investigation Discovery (IDTV), Season 2 Episode 2. The episode was entitled Cold Blue. It first aired in January 2020 and the episode continues to rerun to this day.
- Prior to “Dead of Winter,” I (and the case) was featured on Forensic Files. Season 10 Episode 39 was entitled “To the Viktor.” Although it first aired in 2006, it continues to re-run regularly to date. It is also available on Hulu, The Roku Channel, Tubi TV, Crackle, Pluto TV, and others.
- Prior to Forensic Files, the case and I were featured on The New Detectives Season 6 Episode 3 entitled “For Love or Money.” It first aired on Court TV in October 2000 and is now available on Hulu, Amazon, YouTube, Tubi TV and others.
Since publishing First Degree Rage and Raging On, I have completed a plethora of PODCAST interviews! For the sake of brevity, I will share with you here just a few of the more significant ones:
- Anatomy of Murder. November 2022. This is a weekly true crime podcast produced through the Audio Chuck Network launched on Apple and Stitcher in October 2020 and has garnered more than 50 million downloads. I was interviewed by Scott Wienberger, executive producer and investigative reporter, a three-time Emmy Award winner. It is available in several places including IHeart Radio and Apple Podcasts.
- True Murder: The Most Shocking Killers. I was interviewed last year by Dan Zupansky for my sequel RAGING ON.

I'm often asked by readers, "When will this case be made into a movie or a TV miniseries?" And, honestly, I think it's a story that deserves to be told on the screen. Kay Weden, the victim in the case, is very interested in sharing her story and spreading her message to help others avoid the same fate that she endured. I've had the pleasure of Kay's company at book signings and speaking engagements, and she has been nothing but supportive throughout the publishing of my books.
In addition to these appearances, I've also made numerous visits to bookstores, libraries, book clubs, and other venues to share the story with as many people as possible. And, I'm thrilled to announce that First Degree Rage is currently the #1 Best Seller in Law Enforcement Biographies on Amazon!
