James Stewart

I always wanted to be a writer. But the first time I attended college, in the 1970s at Louisiana State University, I chose a “practical” major that would’ve opened the door for certain jobs in my hometown. I should’ve followed my instincts and taken a step toward my ultimate goal—to become a professional writer—by majoring in English or Journalism. I didn’t follow those instincts and instead joined the Navy after college. I didn’t plan to make … [Read more...]

Reliving Emotions and Stumbling Upon My Sister’s Secret

On Writing The Book Writing the book brought back all kinds of memories and emotions. Some of those emotions were old and some were new. Things I thought I knew, I didn't. Things I didn't think I knew, I did. The passage of time, while seemingly unfortunate, brought with it maturity and another 25 years of life experience to a healing process I thought had already taken place. I cried tears I didn't even know were still possible to cry. I … [Read more...]

27 Years For Justice and Writing

From Renee Fehr, author of The Wheels of Justice:   "I started thinking about writing a book.." shortly after my sister was murdered and it became apparent that her murderer was not going to be arrested and no one would be charged with the crime anytime soon. However, life got in the way. I was young, newly married, and starting a career. That would have been plenty to keep me busy but my family needed my help in the aftermath of the murder. … [Read more...]

An Accident Or Murder? Find Out In 16 MINUTES

16 MINUTES Diane Marger Moore

On the early morning of March 6, 1993, an intense fire broke out in a tiny nursery. Sixteen minutes later, firefighters had extinguished the blaze, only to reveal a room burned so severely, everything was virtually unrecognizable. Then, they were told to look for a baby. What they discovered looked more like a monster from a horror film. The small skull had been incinerated, and the legs and arms were nothing more than charred stumps. The only … [Read more...]

Investigation Discovery Show Previews Case Behind New True Crime By Steve Jackson

SAVING ANNIE Stephen Nichols

The Real Story With Maria Elena Salinas Gives Taste Of "SAVING ANNIE" As with most true crime television documentaries, especially involving a case with as many moving pieces and storylines as are involved in my new book, SAVING ANNIE, the creators of "Fall of Innocence" made some mistakes, got some things wrong, and barely touched on many of the facts. Prior to airing, the producer acknowledged that even at an hour, the show could only … [Read more...]

When a young married couple living comfortably in the sleepy town of San Marino, California suddenly disappeared, family and friends wanted to know why.

Linda Sohus, an artist, and her husband John, a Star Trek fan and a computer geek with a part-time job at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in nearby Pasadena, might have left town on a secret government mission. At the very least it could have involved a more lucrative job for John on the East Coast.

It’s just that they left so suddenly. And, for a while at least, they weren’t in communication with anyone. But as days grew into weeks and Linda’s animals went uncared for, members of their families began to ask questions. Before long, someone called the police.

All trails led nowhere.

Eventually, the couple’s pickup was located in Greenwich, Connecticut.

John and Linda? Gone. And, nearly a decade later, all but forgotten. Then, bones turned up in the backyard of the home the couple shared with John’s mother Didi. Criminalists were initially baffled by the find. They wondered, were these the remains of an indigenous person or an early settler?

What detectives uncovered was a complex web of deception that left tragedy and unanswered questions in its wake. Although the case was overshadowed by events that captured the nation’s attention, eventually the truth emerged. It was a tale involving murder, lust, deceit, and trickery in some of America’s wealthiest towns. All perpetrated by one brazen conman, captured only after he was trapped by love.
